Epilogue 1 : Last 4 competitions! End of Highschool debating
May 2010
It might be the best time ever in my Highschool. why? because It hit a record in joining 4 competitions in a row! I joined E-Party (SMAN 1 Tangerang, 30 apr-1 May), Liberty (SMAN 2 Tangsel, 6-8 May), Interval (Labschool Rawamangun, 14-15 May) and IREC (HI-UGM, 21-22 May). This is Debating month!
let me share my experience in my hectic-but-enjoyable-month!
1. E-Party
2010 is the 3rd times Sman1tra held eParty. 2008 I was runner-up, 2009 I was observer. and 2010 was my comeback after suspend my debating due to exam stuffs. I have accepted in ITB at that time so, I can devote my life for debating (lebay)
My teammate was Elghafiky and Suci. Fiky as 1st, me as 2nd, and Suci as 3rd.
what I felt that time? SHAKING! There was Albert from CC there. he's damn great and he just won EDC 2010+bestspeaker. it mean he has tuned in debating! and us? no we haven't debate for months. even we haven't met Naufal for training. dang!
1st round we were still haven't tuned in yet. case wasn't very strong, some hung arguments, but we won. 2nd round we met Swing team consist of Monic, Yogi and Benny. damn, they are so strong, we lost with 1 margin in motion "THBT gov. should force recycling" due to weak justification. but luckily we won in 3rd,4th and 5th round. we broke to quarter in the 2nd standing where the 1st standing was swing team :p
we won hardly in Quarter and Semifinal so we made to the Final.
It was my comeback debut and we made it to Final and met CC, theteam that we scare about. we had bad record againts CC in Knock-out round, moreover Albert was there!
We got a tough debate in motion "THW make Art/Cluture Faculty 100% free by relocating significant national budget". it was split decision 4-3 and we lost to Albert.
we were runner-up, Fiky got best speaker . not bad for a comeback debut especially got Rp 1.500.000 (each Rp 500.000) :p
2. Liberty
my school made its 1st time held a Debating competition. we allow composite team to join and even break to K.O round. my team was "MALIQ AND DE DEBATERZ" ! sounds Alay? yes, we (me, vicario, monic and vera) made it in purpose! because my teammates were a stranger! I haven't met them, I don't know them but I just accept when they offer to join their team. my teammatea were Maliq from SMAN 1 Curug, and Falaq from SMAN 2 Balaraja.
actually my purpose was just mending my speaker score and my elaboration. because Fiky told me that my diction and wording wasn't too populist. So I join them. We made fun of my team. because that was also my purpose, having fun with the debaters! Monic, Adriel and Vicario also made a composite team named Smukitra College (Smukie bdg, Sman1tra and Canisius College). I do enjoy my time with them. even I spend more time with smukitra college than Maliq and de DebaterZ. because it was our reunion as bangkoters, especially rio has come from Bandung just to have fun with us. in otherhand, maliq and falaq wasn't that good. they were text-book debaters. made paragraph for their speech and didn't accept any POI. There were some improvement on their speech in this comp, but it elps nothing. In the end I made to Quarterfinal, but lost to smukitra college. even before the match we knew the result. LOL.
The winner was Regina Pacis, 1st runner-up CC, and 2nd runner-up smukitra college.
best speaker was Albert. but in the end I achieved my purpose! I was 2nd best speaker. even I got no money but at least my target was achieved!
3. Interval
that was my 2nd time joined interval. last year I was runner-up there.
This year my teammates were Salsa and Deta. both got Gold medal in ISDC. I'm the only nobody. we did cleansweep on the prelim. got 3 of 3 VPs. and finally we made fo the Final.
we met Recis on the Final. Alris, Kezia and Ryan faced us on Final. Alris was the winner of Liberty. in the motion "TH prefer Cambodia over Thailand in the Phra Vihear Temple dispute" we won anonimously! Deta got bestspeaker also!
it was very-cleansweep-debate. unfortunately the prize wasn't satisfied us. we got Rp 1.000.000 (each Rp 300.000). but it made us sure to join IREC in HI UGM
4. IREC
it stands for International Relation English Competitions. HI UGM made it annualy.
It suppose to be Java-Bali scale. but somehow school from Bali, West java and Jakarta didn't join it. it might be due to examination in that region. we, SMAN 2 Tangsel was the farthest school that join. we used train to go to Jogja. I stayed in my alumni dorm to cut my expense. we were also the only team who didn't accompanied by teacher. but we did enjoy it :)
we did cleansweep again in 3 preliminary and broke to quarter from 1st standing :)
we also won anonimously in quarter and semifinal. then that was my 3rd Final in that month!
We faced Mualiminin the Final. the motion was "THBT Gov. shouldn't provide ransom for terrorist for any circumstances". there was drama there. my thought and salsa-deta's thought was different in interpreting this motion. they believe this debate suppose to talk about whether or not the prisoner that are terorrist can be set free by paying money. but what I believe as I have seen in other debate, it suppose to talk about whether or not gov pay ransom to terrorist when they have hostage. then suddenly we used my interpretation. but casebuilding time just 12 minutes left!
dang, I haven't got my arguments but we have to enter the Final room. But luckily I made 2 arguments when 1st speaker opponent delivered his speech. we got problem. Deta, my 1st speaker arguments were too practical, while my sudden arguments were too phylosopical. we should have exchanged our arguments -_____-
then the Announcement came. that was split decision 5-2 an the winner went to SMAN 2 TANGSEL!
wow! we made it again! we also got 1st, 2nd, and 3rd bestspeaker!
we got a big revolving thropy from foreign ministry! a pride on my last HS debating!
we spent our last day in Jogja with shopping. *ups* I mean Salsa and Deta were shopping and I accompany them (and carry their stuff) . but I enjoyed when me and salsa played Time Crisis 4 on Malioboro mall! LOL.
u know what? we get back to salsa's dorm with BECAK MOTOR! we, 3 of us ride becak in the main street! wohooo..
and finally we back to Jakarta with Plane. and other sensation was: we bring the big thropy to the cabin!!!!

this is an Epilogue
Epilog terjadi setelah klimaks dari sebuah cerita. inilah masa" epilog dari my Highschool :)
kenapa ini sebuah epilog? because my Highschool has officially over!
UN udah lewat, Gw udah keterima ITB, dan gak ada tetek bengek lagi di sekolah!
but, Fiky Inspired me :
"Highschool studying migh be over, but Highschool Debating is still in overtime. we still have time"
overall, gw cuma pengen mengakatakan kalo sebentar lagi gw akan menulis lagi di blog. many stories that i will share through this blog. all about my highschool summary will be break down into debating, studying and my 3 years classmate, bilingual. sekarang, I still have something to do.
about this tittle, why this is an epilogue? because it is an enjoyable short time before facing my new world in ITB. yes, it's a college life! it's gonna be hectic, But i'm gonna addapt soon so I can enjoy it!
